For eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

SMALL WORLD
First time in 3 weeks my bike rolled out of the house. Dull sky but it wasn't raining. Yet despite that, the weather was still hot; the heat bit too much to be out cycling. Reached Two Wheel Action to discover I forgot my bottle so pit-stop it was at either Holland V or Sixth Ave (thanks Ben, I remembered the 3-for-$1 Guardian mineral water). Got to Holland V, dismounted and pushed my bike along the shops. Carelessly, my outer pedal caught the calf of an elderly lady who was browsing children wear and she fell. The lady boss came along to help help her up and thank God the only injury was a couple of scratches and bit of shock. Stayed around feeling bad and apologising profusely to assist wherever I could while she cleaned the grease marks surrounding the wound. She was concerned that the wound would get infected and wanted to get some antiseptic cream/wipes but couldn't really put weight on the injured leg so I offered to get it for her. Never left my bike unattended like that before but I figured I would just do it. After everything, walked her to Crystal Jade where she waited for her hubby to pick her up and she started chatting with me. Somehow I asked, amongst other questions, if she was a grandma, if she was retired, what was her profession and where was her workplace. The response was unbelieveable. Her name is Mrs Lee, teacher at Bukit View Primary School for 17 years previously. Bukit View Primary School. The light blue uniform. The very place that holds my very fondest memories. She was one of the teachers-in-charge of the school library I went to as a student. It was then that I had a vague impression of her. Wow. We probably chatted for 10 minutes and it was time to bid farewell as her hubby arrived. Opened the door for her, apologised one last time as she settled in the car and that was it.

I reflected on what happened and realised...

1. That I'm still not sharp enough
2. That things go wrong when things go where they don't belong
3. That things happen for a reason
4. That this incident brought affirmation
5. That there remains a measure of good within

God bless you Mrs Lee.
